I decided it was time to catch up with technology and create a blog. I am writing about life with my wonderful family, our efforts to make responsible eco-friendly decisions, grief, my faith, and anything else that boggles my brain!

Do Phases Have Time Limits?
People tell me it's just a phase.
The defiance. The back talk.
Please tell me it will end. I'd like to unclench my fists and release my jaw!
The picture is hilarious, which tells me that you have your sense of humor about his behavior! I think that's all you can do is secretly laugh! GOOD LUCK!
I'm dealing with the same thing, and my daughter is only 3. 3 and full of neck-rolling attitude. Let me know when your phase ends so I'll have hope mine will be over soon :)
Oh when Spencer was 2 or 3 his favorite thing was to respond "NEVER! NEVER! NEVER!" whenever we asked him anything.
We once made a game of trying to get him to respond positively to something and it didn't matter what we offered him the little poophead wouldn't say anything but "NO!"
Remember - you have the car keys, the food, and the money. All he has is attitude - he don't drive nuthin, cook nuthin, or make a thing - you will always win with a little patience and a lot of humor. I remember telling my mom that I didn't want to clean up my room. She said, "Great - let's all do what we want" and went in her room to read a magazine. A bit later, I was hungry and was supposed to go to a birthday party. I knocked on her door and she told me that she didn't "want" to cook or drive me around that day. Moms always win! (And, yes, I cleaned my room!) Remember - you are the mommy - and a very good one! You will outlast them all!

ReplyDeletehe's so cute--would be hard to get mad at, but I completely feel your pain--my 4 year old is driving me nuts
ReplyDeleteWhen you figure it out, let me know please. My 4yr old daughter has the worst attitude and back talking behavior! Ugh! Payback for me, I guess.

Ask your mom if your "phase" has ended yet...
ReplyDeleteOh girl. I would have had to have secretly laughed at the face in this picture, too.
ReplyDeleteI think phases come and go but those temperaments - oy. My second one . . . such the handful, even at 20 months. Lord help us.
I have a 3-year-old son that is putting me through the paces. I feel your pain... and frustration!

How old is he again? I'm afraid I might not have good news for you...
