Tackle It Tuesday #15 - Packing

It's official. We sold our house. We have to be out July 28th. We haven't found a house yet, so I'm tackling house hunting AND packing this week.

I'm heading out to get packing supplies today, and tomorrow I'm taking the family to see a fixer upper I found. Because I'm crazy . . . and thrive in chaos!

I'd love to hear some of your packing tips.

Check out more great tackles over at 5 Minutes for Mom.

We just did the selling, house hunting, packing, moving thing a couple weeks ago. So I feel you.

Congrats on selling the house! :) When I pack, I like to use my towels and bedsheets as packing material, because they're free, and it gets them out of the way too!

Congrats on selling and good luck on finding a different house. Here is mine.

Congrats on your sale and good luck with the hunt!

Label your boxes with what room they go in.

Use your towels, placemats, etc to be the "packing material" for your breakables. (oh, wait I see someone else said that too. I agree!)

Congratulation on the move. I hope you find the house you are looking for. I can see why your house sold quickly it is beautiful.

Congratulations! Does this mean you are moving back to MoCo? Let me know if you are!

Wow! Praise God! That is so awesome that your home sold so quickly. Moving tips? Try to sell or give away stuff you don't want in the new house, before you move. (But I usually run out of time and move it anyways...)

Congrats!!! That is wonderful news. Packing is yucky. that's all there is to it. I packed boxes half and half for weight reasons- like half books and half sheets (or something light). We had movers, but I still had to lug those boxes around once we got here and was preg-o at the time, so I had to consider that. The other thing is to get movers if at all possible.
Congrats, again!!

Keep a master list (on a legal pad or in a binder) of the boxes. It takes more time on the packing end, but is so worth it on the unpacking end. Number each box and put a brief description of the contents.

Also, color code by room! Get colored sharpies and make each room a different color. Red for kitchen, blue for bathroom, etc. Then when you are moving in tape a paper with that color by the room so people can easily see where things go.

All this assuming you are moving yourselves. Hope this helps!
